Artist Statement for Maia Peters
|
|
|
Maia Peters was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and was then interested in ceramics, all kinds of needlework and in writing poetry. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan, the University of Nebraska, Georgia State, and Cal State Fullerton.
Presently, Maia lives in San Dimas, CA. She has been doing Art for about 25 years in Oil, Pastel, Water Color, Paper Marche', Jewelry, and Mixed Media. Her works range from Representational to Abstract. They are of Genre, Landscapes, Still Life,with a heavy emphasis on Native American Cultures. In addition, she has done some works in Handweaving.
As a former teacher in multiple subjects, with a Degree in Vocal Music and Multiple Subjects, she believes the Arts of all kinds can establish and nourish confidence in anyone.
