Artist Statement:
Soothing blue slips into deep
violet. Bold yellows leap
away from rich reds. Color is
about context. In every new
setting, color transforms
itself. On a white wall, a
blue piece is often soothing,
but against orange, it excites
and disturbs the viewer.
Discovering color harmony is
like composing a visual
symphony. Analogous schemes
are pleasant and often soft on
the eye. Throw in a note of a
complementary color, and
discord unfolds. As an Artist
it is my quest to develope a
personal language of color and
form. I explore the range of
color harmonies. In many of
my pieces I feature an
abstracted horse. I use this
device as a neutral framework
for my color situations. The
horses themselves are not
easily read by the viewer,
allowing for more
concentration on the overall
concept of the piece as
opposed to focusing on subject
matter....
