Artist Statement for Manisha Dey

My art is a reflection of nature on my mind. But I don’t establish myself as a nature lover after all. As an artist I love our nature which inspired me every time. During my first visit to Santiniketan I a backed to seeing the beauty of nature and very much inspired from the rural life of people. The mystical nature of existence brought to the fore. Paring away the noise and chaos of urban life, the cool reflective space of shadow and silenced is evoked. It trend in me a strong affinity towards nature and various form of life.
Those green never fade from my mind. But when I saw the global market has taken to it without reservation. Its make me very unhappy. I am not a hypocrite and always welcome good things in life. But certainly not at the cost of naturality/creativity. I know progress is necessary for today’s society, so I can only represent my state of mind about nature. I man- oeuvre to recreate the beauty of nature on my canvas.
I see nature not only as a sea-scape, land-scape or town-scape, but as a universal form. Nature has own language, truthiness itself, it is pure which is magically vanished from our today’s society. We see not only what the retina transmits but that which is transformed by the inner eye. That would develop our own distinct aesthetic. In my view, nature has its own source, feed his imaginative power which I blend my feelings and vision with nature found in my surrounding.
