Artist Statement for Manuela Valenti

|
I work in two basic medias, oil and acrylics, because I identify myself with them the most. Each one brings a different reaction in me. I guess they trigger a different side of my brain?... with them I recreate my world in both a physical and emotional way, being the abstracts my wild side, while my figures and landscapes are my peaceful more adult side.
My work for me is the escape, the back door to my most intimate world, where my dreams, fears and swirls of emotions along with with daily life and experiences are stored.
I use the canvas and the board as my paper and the paints as my pencil where I'm writing a book. The story? an eternal story filled with happiness, struggles, fears, experiences and the beauty of this world and the human being as important participant of my stories.
I don't think my work will ever be defined as many other artist's I admire. I can't just sit and decide one day from now on I want to be a classical impressionist figurative painter or the rock star of the abstract world. I enjoy both disciplines so much and I know I'm really good at booth.
I love to tell the stories I see on the streets of the places I happen to be. I like to capture that candid moment when people is just doing their own thing or immerse in their thinking, and I enjoy the passion and the emotions being an abstract painter gives, the wild side of me awakens at that time. It is exhilarating and emotionally charged at the same time.
I hope you would learn to admire my work as well as I admire what I do for a living.
Manuela Valenti.
