Artist Statement for Linda Plaisted

As a painter, photographer, illustrator and mixed media artist, my artwork is inspired by the heritage of my artistic ancestors, but also animated by current technology, giving traditional media a modern twist. To continue to grow as an artist I experiment constantly with new media, new tools, new ideas.

While my work continues to evolve with the state-of-the-art, I am also greatly influenced by timeless themes in history, science, literature, mythology, and popular culture particularly in reference to women and children; a segment of society who have historically had limited access to the acquisition and application of knowledge.

Through my work I attempt to interpret how past and future converge in the present with an often bittersweet view of classic themes and iconic imagery.
