Artist Statement for Leslie Marcus
|
|
|
Leslie Marcus has resided in California since 1974 and in Ojai for over 16 years. As a fine art painter specializing in watercolors and oils, she also works as an art educator in her community. As a Textile Designer, Leslie’s art has been produced for apparel and home furnishings.
Leslie was born and raised in New York and at the age of 14 rode the New York City’s subways to study watercolor painting at The Arts Students League. Later, after earning an A.A. degree from The California College of Arts & Crafts and, then a B.F.A from The Academy of Art College in San Francisco, Leslie immersed herself in the highly competitive fashion world of Los Angeles. There she created exclusive, original and exotic Textile Designs for apparel and home furnishings.
As an art educator, Leslie continues to offer private & group painting classes in watercolors and oils to youth, teens, and the elderly in Ojai. Her mentoring focuses on the students’ individuality and intuitive abilities.
Examples of Leslie’s fine art reproductions are found with private wine labels, greeting cards, and currently, illustrations for a novel. Her Fine Art Giclee Prints are available by commission.
