Artist Statement for Marcy Allen

|
I have been painting since 1984 and doing stained glass since 1995. It all began innocently enough: I ran into my middle school art teacher at the bank in 1984 as a freshman in college. She said that I was good then and was I doing anything artistic. So I started painting the same week. You never know how you might be impacting someone else's life.
Future: Would like to start selling prints of my paintings and publish my book with stories and pictures of my paintings.
Style: I feel that photography is an art so I paint totally from images that come to me. I like the phrase (stolen from the movie "A Room With a View") - "Unincumbered by the snares of anatomy and perspective". For stained glass I like a balance between how complex the design is and staying out of the way of the beauty of hand rolled glass.
