Artist Statement for Marek Petryk

A life without colours is colourless-life.
A life without colours is like music without sound.
A life without colours is not a life at all.

My pictures are eruption of my need to develop something new. The results of my development-process are abstract paintings. Pictures are like painted photos of an unrealistic, abstract world. It looks similar to the realistic world we are living in – there are colours and figures in it, and it is often difficult to understand what all those structures mean.

My ambition is to describe a little happier abstract environment – with bright colours as a sign of optimism and bright prospects in the future-world, which is quite abstract to me, just now. I hope that recession in the world’s economies will not influence me in the direction of pessimism with dark colours and boring compositions. But my paintings always reflect my own feelings and you can see the current mood-reflections in colours and lines of my art.
Check my gallery – I would appreciate it if you could give me some piece of information about your reception of that kind of art.
