Artist Statement:
My name is Marianne Clancy, I
am the oldest of a family of
artists from Michigan and now
living in California since the
70's. I have always devoted my
life consistantly to
representing beauty in my
artwork. I believe art is a
great catalyst for enhancing
our lives and for the artist,
a way of expressing his or her
love for life.
I have a Masters degree in Art
from the University of Oregon
and have been involved in many
shows and galleries across the
western us. I spent 15 years
oil painting over black and
white photos and then moved to
watercolor, pastels,
acrylic,oil and for the past
year have been seriously
painting with encaustic
beeswax.
One theme that I am exploring
at present are costumes,
theater and circus and how art
can be a playful yet
insightful representation of
these genres.
Another life-long love affair
has been with flowers, any and
all. To stop and smell the
roses is a motto I actually
live by. I often pay artistic
tribute to these beauties.
