Artist Statement:
A painter is the result of
many factors, most of which
are experiential, inexorably
linked to influences during
the painter's upbringing.
The arts, traveland the
willingness to be fascinated
by all of life's details
create unique methods of
seeing and hearing.
Marie-Claire Baude de Trey is
the daughter of French Swiss
conductor Henry Baud. She has
traveled extensively, studied
music and is fascinated by
places where summer never
ends.
Settling on the pristine
tropical island of Holbox,
tucked between the rollicking
Gulf of Mexico and the
sapphire Caribbean, she works
in an idyllic studio
surrounded by coconut palms,
hibiscus, banana plants and
bouganvillas, overlooking the
everchanging colors of the
sea.
Her paintings are lush in the
most verdant tropical sense;
beautiful women surrounded by
panthers, birds, fruit and
flowers. These vibrant
tropical explosions are her
expression of fantasy and
mysticism, on vast canvas
junges hued in the colors and
textures of island life. If
you look closely, you can hear
the music othat runs through
her life, an undending
inspirational book.
Her works grace the walls of
collectors throughout Europe
and the Americas. ...
