Artist Statement for Marat Dusembaev

When examining a piece of art, people are inclined to look for familiar shapes and objects. However, such literal characters have no room in non-tangible art. I hope that you will find my work interesting in terms of form, color as well as composition. You might see something that reminds you of a familiar tangible object. You even might fall in love with an abstract painting, without knowing exactly why. The years will pass by and this feeling of infatuation is very likely to stay with you forever.

I truly believe that the most complex emotions can be evoked by the simplest forms. My art explores the relationship between man-made structures and the world of nature. In my opinion, the idea of recognizable shapes and structures living within irrational thoughts and emotions is highly intriguing. I usually begin painting very spontaneously and during the working process enter a trance-like state. The composition starts to show itself gradually.

In recent years, I've been using more neutrals and oxide colors to enhance the vividness of my paintings. Interestingly enough, my drawings have received more concrete forms. I've distanced my art from abstract impressionism and focused on more tangible forms. In the past, I sought for an emotional outburst, but now I prefer dwelling in the realm of more perceivable objects.

I am truly happy when people tell me that my art has touched their souls. I like when people express their impression of my work and engage in discussions over it. A painter - this is my true vocation!
