Artist Statement:
Memories and dreams of the sea, ships, quiet small boats, sun and sunflowers, the tropical forest and its skies, remembrances of his childhood, and landscapes of his walk throughout the Caribbean and Central America are the models and inspiration of Chanlatte. The tropical nature implies sun, light, and radiant colors, these are the elements of his palette; indigo, blue, red, orange, yellow, green, purple, almost pure colors, representing water, sky, sun, fire, sunsets, flowers and trees, all the elements of nature mixed by the rapid brush of the artist. Sometimes he uses thin impastos, other times he scrapes the paint in the canvas discovering new textures, but always searching for means of expression. In his work, in the middle of a feast of colors, forms, and matter, interpreted in a personal way, no following the rules of nature or the academy, we always find balance, harmony, and beauty. Marino has identity, training, education and vocation.
If only the sun would be always on his canvases!
