Artist Statement:
For the past few months I have
been traveling and creating
art within the virtual world.
Using photographs I have taken
of avatars (virtual simulation
of a human figure) I digitally
alter the photos to create
surreal works of art with an
abstract feel. The images
have a misty and shadowy
quality with hidden faces and
figures.
Avatar faces in the virtual
world do not show emotion and
while the avatar may not be
"real," the person behind the
avatar is, with real feelings
and thoughts, and real
experiences of sorrow and joy.
Mysteriously, these emotions
are captured in the images you
see.
The virtual world is exploding
with creativity. I want my
part of that creativity to be
about capturing and presenting
these characters' images and
souls to the real world, and
doing it in an interesting and
beautiful way.

Welcome to Marisa Fehrenbach's Portfolio.
For the past few months I have been traveling and creating art within the virtual world.
