| Your Personal Biography |
Mr. Granlund's artwork focuses on landscapes and botanicals in several mediums; watercolor, oil paint and drawing. He has exhibited his work about the environment in New York City and throughout the upper Midwest.
Mr. Granlund received his Masters degree in painting and drawing from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, New York in 1990.
In 2001, Mr. Granlund established the Botanical Arts and Illustration Certification program at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. This program provides botanical arts courses in which students can receive certification and college credit through Concordia University, Saint Paul, MN. Mr. Granlund continues to instruct in this program, teaching beginning drawing, beginning watercolor, botanicals in pencil, oil and watercolor, and animal coverings in watercolor.
From 1994 to 2003 Mr. Granlund was the Arts Program Manager at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. In this capacity he coordinated art classes and programs for adults and children and managed public art projects at the zoo and conservatory.
Mr. Granlund has taught undergraduate art classes at Brooklyn College, NY, and at Bethel College, St. Paul, MN. He taught extension courses and has been on staff at Vermont Studio Colony in Johnson, VT.
For a job, Mr. Granlund oversees the public gardens of Saint Paul, MN. This includes 300 garden beds, 150 planters and 500 hanging baskets.
