Artist Statement:
About The Artist - “Maryanne”
Maryanne has always had a tremendous love of horses from as far back as she can remember.
As a child, she often rode her pony to school. She lived in the Adelaide Hills on a property at Gumeracha, scaling the rolling hills on her horses, bare-back, saddled or just bridled, it didn't matter.
She mustered cattle in the traditional way with her Father and would always check the ewes and lambs on horseback.
Maryanne found herself always sketching animals, horses in particular. In fact, she would sketch anything from the weeping willows lining the river Torrens, to the rocks and the birds, always including horses.
As a child, Maryanne always won the awards for drawing projects, portraits of the early settlers, camp sights, anything that her imagination would take her to. She would often sketch, design, carve and create purely as a hobby.
Maryanne’s talent brought her to being accepted into The South Australian School Of Art, after her final year at Loreto Convent in Adelaide. She also received the prize as top artist at Loreto that year.
