Artist Stacy Bottoms unveiled his Veterans Day Mural in Concord, NC at the Brown Operations Center on Warren C. Coleman Blvd. A military fly over occurred along with colors presented by a local High School Air Force jr. ROTC.
The mural was painted on a large 9 ft. rock and shows all five branches of the military. The Air Force has the Stealth Bomber, The Army has a paratroper, The Navy has the USS North Carolina, a helicopter for the Coast Guard, Marines are on the beach and finally a bald eagle watches over everything.
"Painting is always fun but this was a special project because my wife's grandfather and step mom's dad used to tell us stories about WWII like parachuting into Normandy without proper cold weather gear".
Stacy recently exhibited his paintings at the Hickory Museum of Art this summer in a group exhibition, "Nascar Inspired".
