Artist Statement for Max R. Scharf

I am a positive and happy painter who projects my innermost feelings through my art. It is important to me that the joyful emotions expressed in my works are felt by the people who view my art. This is how I hope to make a worthwhile contribution to the society in which I live.

Like the artistic visionaries, Van Gogh, Monet, Pissaro, Seurat, Derain, and Vlaminck, I dare to break the rules of conventional painting to capture "The Beauty of the Moment" in a colorful and powerful rendition. When I touch my viewers deeply, it touches me deeply.

About my Works; Inspired by the beauty of nature and the interplay of light, color, and movement, I look for unusual compositions, relationships and contrasts in a scene. I embark on an emotionally draining process of immortalizing "The Beauty of the Moment" over a two to four week period. I am always seeking to make a statement, achieve mastery in the control of the brush stoke, and energize every detail of the scene with movement. When I am done, every part of the painting is in motion, and every inch is filled with my soul.

My destiny as a painter is to create works that are jubilant celebrations of color, light, and motion... to brighten the day...everyday...for my viewers.
