McClanahan has just been selected to exhibit three paintings for the Arts in Embassy Program at the American Embassy at Yaounde, Republic of Cameroon. The painting will be on exhibit in the US Embassy from 2010 through 2013.

McClanahan is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society. He has won top awards exhibiting in and around the United States and Mexico, and has been accepted in many national and international exhibits such as the National Wildlife Federation, the Annual Arkansas Exhibition, the Delta Exhibition and the Mid-Southern Watercolor Exhibition, all in his home state of Arkansas. He has exhibited at the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors, Old Forge, New York; the Butler Institute of American Artist, Youngstown, Ohio; the Bluegrass Painting Exhibit, Louisville, Kentucky; the Terrance Gallery, New York City; National Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition, Los Angeles, Calif.; the Watercolor Art Society Exhibition, Houston, Tx.; the Texas Fine Arts Exhibition, Austin, Tx.; the Gasparilla Art Exhibition, Tampa,Fla.; 40 Years of Art in San Miguel, Galeria Pergola, SMA, Mexico; and the Sun Chemical Exhibition of Color, Agua, Y Paper, Museo de la Estampa, Mexico City, Mexico; Small Works on Paper, Arkansas Arts Counsel 2008 (Purchase Award), Little Rock, AR.
McClanahan has had three works selected ("Spatial Entry", "Iceberg", and "Living Stripes" which can be viewed on this site) by the U.S. State Dept.(Arts in Embassy Program) and Ambassador A. Eastham to hang in the American Embassy beginning January 2009 through 2011 in Brazaville, Republic of the Congo.
