Artist Statement:
My paintings tend to have a
surrealist element to them,
and include themes not of this
earth – like outer space for
example. They are in general,
about the journey of the soul
and the spiritual messages we
get throughout life in dreams
and moments of clarity.

This last year I started using
trees as a subject matter, as
I love the shapes they make,
and look like earth's hands
reaching for the sky. The
trees are not within their
usual contexts, either with an
unusual atmospheric background
or made from something else –
like water or animal fur. I
feel this opens up the view to
look at trees in a different
way, and hopefully get the
message across that we are all
made from the same things –
originally stars... but it
does not matter if you are a
tree, an animal or mineral,
it’s all important in the
delicate balance of the world
we live in.

It’s quite a 'green' message
behind some of my paintings,
but I hope a spiritual message
comes across too in the
ethereal way in which some of
the pieces are painted. I am
quite a spiritual person and
get a lot ...
