Artist Statement for Mischa Epstein Alvarado
|
|
|
Mischa Epstein Alvarado is a collage artist . She has been a visual and
performing artist most of her life. Over time she has developed a
distinctive personal style. Her images combine childlike imagination and
fantastictical compositions into a compelling visual style for children of all ages.
Mischa has won Peoples Choice at the 2007 Southwick Annual Art Exhibit
and Best in Show at the West Springfield 3rd Annual Art Show and Most
recently 1st place in painting and printmaking at the Matoon St Art Festival.
Her work can also be seen at the West Sprinfield Library
until September 28th and Mt Tom's Ice Cream in East Hampton till the end
of the month.
Mischa creates her collages from handmade paper, beads, buttons, snaps,
wood,wine bags and whatever comes to her. Each collage comes
from her emotions,thoughts, and concepts that are generally "adult"
in nature. Yet, as you can see, Mischa's process reveals a whimsical
and "childlike" piece of art. Each piece has special detail, inspiration
and techniques in them and each comes with it's own story
to tell. Each piece of art is meant to soar with your imagination and
give you the same feeling of joy I recieve from creating them.
All Items are avilable as canvas and paper giclée
prints. The Collection has over 400 pieces of artwork.
