Prologue by Eduardo Mac Entyre


Mercedes Fariņa´s fine art
nude refuses all kind of light
anecdote, no superfluous
details can distract the eye,
letting us appreciate the work
in its full dimension, that
leads to a balanced aesthetics
harmony in the preception of
the beauty.

Unlike other artists, Mercedes
transmits a very particular
vibration when we contemplate
her works. Vibration that,
through the optical sense,
takes us to her highly
spiritual and poetic climate,
where the sublimation and the
ideal of femininity go beyond
the suggest
of the visual perception.

In this group of works on show
we can appreciate a clear and
incessant evolution. Concerned
for the teaching of
chiaroscuro in her first
works, we can see how the
light acts wrapping the nudes
with a subtle sensuality based
on a range of warm colours,
typical of the Renaissance
artists.

In her latest works, her
palette goes lighten and the
light begins to take over the
whole canvas, brushing the
shapes and praising the
textures. The light starts to
function that way, not only as
an aesthetics purpose, but as
Mercedes says: "light that
comes from my inside, as a
reflection of the soul".
