Artist Statement for Mercedes Farina

Prologue by Eduardo Mac Entyre
Mercedes Fariña´s fine art nude refuses all kind of light anecdote, no superfluous details can distract the eye, letting us appreciate the work in its full dimension, that leads to a balanced aesthetics harmony in the preception of the beauty.
Unlike other artists, Mercedes transmits a very particular vibration when we contemplate her works. Vibration that, through the optical sense, takes us to her highly spiritual and poetic climate, where the sublimation and the ideal of femininity go beyond the suggest
of the visual perception.
In this group of works on show we can appreciate a clear and incessant evolution. Concerned for the teaching of chiaroscuro in her first works, we can see how the light acts wrapping the nudes with a subtle sensuality based on a range of warm colours, typical of the Renaissance artists.
In her latest works, her palette goes lighten and the light begins to take over the whole canvas, brushing the shapes and praising the textures. The light starts to function that way, not only as an aesthetics purpose, but as Mercedes says: "light that comes from my inside, as a reflection of the soul". Beautiful message, where we can appreciate her purity in its clearest form.
Mercedes seeks the excellence through perfection, that ideal that is the "love to the piece itself", by her clarity and quality expressed not only in her performance, but in the idealization that aims to beauty.
She has imposed herself to follow the hard road, in times when easy seems success, the ephemeral replaces the transcendental, when ethics are distorted and effort doesn’t count and aesthetics seems not to be the ideal to reach in the piece of work, distorting, this way, the concept of "Aim of Art".
Mercedes, don’t faint, you are in the right path, path reserved to those who own great spirit, path where the success doesn’t count, or fame, or fashion, but do count the force of will, humility and honesty.
The choice belongs to you only.
