I love the smell of oil as I wander in the vast studio to get a sense of where to begin....through the Looking Glass.the ZEN GARDEN ::::::: the space for my soul...
I start my paintings by unrolling the canvas across the studio floor.
Then I proceed to separate areas with colour and feeling absolutely lost in the immensity and infinity of the white, I usually start covering the entire surface with black .
I cross over placing long pieces of wood ,across the canvas, wide enough to be able to walk over it without touching .
Psychological studies of a state of mind!!!!
I am in the process of healing. It will be a long process and “voila” my soul mate Painting is to accompany me on this long and painful journey.
Painting and I have started a dialogue with each other.
Painting wants to use lots of vibrant colors . Sometimes I allow Her to do that; other times ‘seriousness overcomes me’ and I become very black.
Then we struggle because she will always want to insert a bright colour in , even if it is in the corner. Sometimes she succeeds and seduces me . Other times she has to deal with my stubbornness and we arrive at a compromise. I cover Painting with white on the entire surface while claiming that the brightness hurts my eyes . It is a give and take relationship…. As all of them
My working process is….I could say in stages like sequences of a film seen from the editor’s point of view.
Perhaps through this process I have learned to think with my paintings... .
My work process starts with an idea, a feeling, an interior experience ....painting translates it to the exterior .....to the concrete .
When I forget that I am painting , painting becomes painting.
