Artist Statement:
Statement:
My primary concern is to paint
things that I am passionate
about. The environment is
something we all depend on and
use to our advantage, either
to make a living as a farmer,
or manufacturer, or to sustain
our own lives. How we use it
is important if we are to
continue to live healthy
lives.
History has shown us in the
last century that we have
progressed at an amazing rate
relative to the rest of human
history. I feel we may be
paying a price for the
progress we have made through
pollution and waste created to
make our lives easier. We
create nuclear waste to make
power; claiming there is less
carbon monoxide released than
coal burning power plants. We
in turn use the lakes and
rivers to cool these
generators of coal and nuclear
power plants, warming and
polluting the water so we all
can plug our toasters into the
wall every morning. I’m not a
politician and I don’t have
the answers to alternative
solutions but I feel we are
working against nature in
search of material wealth.
When I paint I draw
inspiration from my family
history and their rural past.
