Artist Statement:
I've drawn pictures as
long as I can remember. I did
not take any art courses until
Junior College, and then
(while at Fullerton City
College in Fullerton,
California), I begain to take
drawing classes. (figure
drawing and expressive drawing
were my favorites). I also
took the usual academic art
courses. My focus has always
been figure drawing and
painting.
On the basis of my portfolio,
I was accepted at Art Center
College of Design in Pasadena,
California. Art Center was
primarily a design school. At
the time, the only major that
allowed me to study figure
drawing and painting (within
their initial Fine Art
Department) was FASHION
ILLUSTRATION. I was fortunate
to study classical figure
drawing under a contemporary
master of classical drawing -
(Harry Carmean).
I have shown work in
California and in Colorado. I
have sold work which was
hosted on the Internet in
Germany and in France. I have
work in private collections in
the USA and in the UK.
I feel draftmanship
(drawing and sketching) is an
important foundation that has
allowed me to explore a wide
range of personal themes. I
classify my work as
"expressive figure painting
and drawing", and I lean
