| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
Georgia O’Keefe’s sensual flowers were definitely been an inspiration for me. The apprenticeship of the technique where you can paint on fabric with all kinds of water media was the most important step in my evolution. Also the discovery of the Japanese paper called “Yupo” brought my artworks to another level of creativity that is most enjoyable.

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I have always worked with colors and shapes as a fashion designer but tole painting was the inspiration that led me to work on canvas. For years I did not want to depart with my paintings but as people were asking me all the time to buy them I finally agreed and it was the beginning of a career.

Micheline Lamarre Hadjis
www.michelinehadjis.com
Welcome to the world of the artist Micheline Lamarre Hadjis. Take a trip through the dancing forms and vibrant colors of her compositions.
Micheline developed her skills over years in several fields of art and design. A successful career as a fashion designer gave her a feel for colors and textures. Then, as a stained-glass artisan, she experimented with translucence and luminosity. Painting on porcelain allowed her to develop precise and feathered brush techniques. Working with ceramics helped her expand her spatial concepts of depth and perception.
These experiences brought the artist to develop her own technique which she calls “Exotic Fantasy”. On a specially prepared canvas, the artist plays with fluid acrylics as they glide and blend to form the versatile background. The subject with all the details is then painted with several applications of opaque acrylic which provides the vibrant colors and contrasts. The artist favours the rarest exotic flowers and captures their sensuality and sexuality. She enjoys playing with the creatures of the sea in an imaginary habitat where flamboyant tropical fish flirt and mingle without a care in the world. Constantly experimenting, abstractions have become primordial in her evolution and lead the path to other exciting frontiers.
Micheline is exhibiting in several art galleries. She has also painted murals and unique pieces on commission.
She works closely with designers to understand and guide customer’s needs. Each painting is unique and a work of quality that adds beauty and elegance to any décor.
Last year Micheline participated in FANTASEA with her marine compositions. This exhibition was held at the Arizona Museum for Kids, from March 9th to July 22nd. Micheline’s artworks is reproduced in ceramic, glass and porcelain trough a company based in North Carolina. Her fish compositions are also reproduced in murals. One is at Ste-Justine Hospital in Montreal and another one is at Naimo Hospital in Naimo, B.C, Canada.
This year she added her participation to the conservation of oceans trough the international digital magazine for divers called X-Ray. Her creations are sold through Ocean Art in the form of calendars, cards, clocks, pillows, etc… Each object sold will give 20% to the cause.
Among her recent works: a triptych called “Splendour of the Sea” is at the Westin Hotel, Mt-Tremblant, Canada. Micheline is listed in the Répertoire Biennal des Artistes Canadiens en galerie 2006-2007 de MagazinArt. Elle a été Présidente de l’Association des Artistes de Beaconsfield 2006-2008 et est active dans la communautée grecque à-travers le Bouclier d’Athéna à Montréal.
Micheline’s artwork is now available in canvas reproduction at a very affordable price.

| Artist Statement |
Painting has always been a passion. For the longest time I did not want to depart with my artwork.I love to paint everything that is exotic like orchids, tropical flowers, exotic fish...Through the years,I developped my own technique. Liking the fluid effects of watercolors but not the glass, I work on a fabric canvas on which I let liquid acrylic, watercolors and sometimes inks do their work for the background and inspiration for the structured elements in the foreground. The result is one of vibrant colors and stunning contrast. The final artwork does not require a glass. My work is currently in galleries througout Canada and in private collections around the world. |
