| Your Personal Biography |
San Franciscan-born expressionist painter Michelle Bird recieved her art education in The Netherlands. She studied at the Rietveld Art Academy and under the tutorial of the acclaimed Cobra Painter Anton Martineau. Her work has been referred to as Baroque because of her extravagant use of paint and ornamental attributes.
She has lectured at 'San Francisco's Academy of Art College' on drawing techniques and has gained Dutch and international attention with her illustrations in the book 'Closed Curtains Lives of de Wallen'. Other illustrations of hers have been published by the Dutch & Belgium publications 'Joie de Vivre' and 'Spuit 11'.
Her work has been shown in group exhibitions at Gallery Retort in Amsterdam, Gallery Walls in Amsterdam, Castle Maurick in Vught The Netherlands, The Depot Art Gallery in California. She has won a nationally juried exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center in Sacramento, California.
Bird's work is represented in private and corporate collections in the United States, Switzerland and The Netherlands, including those of Axa Insurance and SEC Communications.
