Like Roy Lichtenstien and Andy Warhol during the 1960's, Mikovich works with images and techniques culled from popular culture and the commercial arts. Yet, his work expresses the unique sensibilities and sensuality of our own times. Mikovich transposes and transforms pop celebrities and images, sometimes superimposing sensuous portraits on playful, patterned backgrounds, sometimes enlarging then recomposing images using abstract shapes that make them up.
