Artist Statement for Melinda Newman

|
|
Mindy and Ron Newman have held a studio together for over 20 years. And like Oil and Watercolor they technically don't mix.
Rons' vast oil paintings that stretch across the artist studio seem to portray mystical themes, primarily water, although all four basic elements are closely examimed through philosophy and religious studies.
Mindy has been a fine arts librarian and botanical watercolorists. Her paintings draw mostly from these experiences.
Her love of family, people and her American and European travels are turned into watercolor sketches of actual "painted on site scenes" although some are studio produced with her photographs.
