Artist Statement for Misha Huntting

Despondence is a mixture of the skills that I have developed over the years and fueled by the process of experiencing the pursuit of these skills. travel Photography, People photography, Painting, Drawing and Makeup FX. Since it is fueled by the pursuits of a quixotic mind it conveys the feelings of let down of a naive difference from everyone else. People in this country that don't exude a need to be different or to rise above everyone else in my eyes at a second glance are special and what someone such as a diner cook, a deformed child and a priest might experience on a daily basis mixed with an old hollywood idealism is my way of expressing my own conflicted feelings.
Each piece has A LOT! of work in it. I start by a drawing of an old film star in most cases and put them into a more average environment and create a character of them based on a person in the americana world that's struggle interests me after some research. I photograph people's faces at the right angle that I feel match the proportions of the character I am creating, then I spent a lot of time photographing layer upon layer of textures at the right lighting angle and objects such as a dirty dish towel, dead flies, fly traps and aged fabric to give it a feel of grotesque realism. Then I put them in an appropriate scenario from my travel stock photos and work on matching up the combined elements to look fluid but not too fluid or polished.
so that's mostly it. Please feel free to ask me any questions that you like and I am very thankful for the time you've taken to linger on the statement and images.
