BIENNALE INTERNAZIONALE DELL’ARTE CONTEMPORANEA
“CITTÀ DI FIRENZE” IV EDIZIONE
“This is a very sexy painting, and it is sexually attractive. It is like putting lipstick from one ear to the other.
The abstract painter invites us to free associate…abstract painter can make us remember that a cloud can reminds of a mouth. It is great if you can go from a small thing in a person into the galaxy. Poetry does it…The small word evokes something small and something large. This work evokes the mouth of the galaxy…
How do you paint Monica?”
“When I start painting anything, I meditate and concentrate, and ask God to show me what kind of energy I should bring into this world, because someone may be needing it…”
Fra Angelico also meditated for hours and hours before doing a painting…often weeping. Nothing about his paintings gives me any doubt that this is true.
I like your work very much Monica.”

WATKINSVILLE HOSTS INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION
Watkinsville, Georgia may appear to be a sleepy Southern town 70 miles east of Atlanta, but to those who love art, they know it as a bubbling source of artists and art. Now it will also be known for welcoming artwork and artists from around the world.
The OCAF Art Center is hosting an art exhibit of The Travelling Weave: International Artists for Peace and Dialogue. Artwork of nine artists from eight countries, Chile, Brazil, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Canada and the US, will be on exhibit October 2- November 12, 2005. The opening reception will be Sunday, October 2, 2-4 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
On the next night, Monday October 3, at 7 pm there will be photos and a talk showing the studios, the artists and where they live. Some of the artists will be present.
Laura Leiden, an Oconee County artist who is the United States member of this group says, ”It all started in Florence, Italy in December 2003 at the Florence Biennale. As we were sitting around the table at a restaurant with many different languages swirling around, we had a strong vision that it would be wonderful if we could form a small group of artists and exhibit in each others’ countries. By the next morning, The Weave was formed.”
“We all have the mission that by learning to communicate with each other and to share our universal language of art, we hope to make a small concrete step towards peace and dialogue between our cultures and nations,” Leiden adds, “It could be challenging, but we all love each other and we focus on our friendship when there are misunderstandings.”
The artists include: Monica Zacharias, Brazil; Cecilia Quintana Fernandez, Chile; Safa Bute, Turkey; Nicholas Down, Great Britain; Victor Ceprián Cortés, Spain; Asli Deniz
