The work I create focuses on people, issues, and situations I find interesting or curious. Art certainly is a mirror of the artists imagination and reality. Style on the other hand is merely a means to convey the image. I use style to convey the essence of my subject. My nature as a painter ranges from careful and methodical practices to direct expressive approaches. My best work is a blend between the two. Helm currently teaches art at the University of Southern Indiana, Brescia University,and Kentucky Wesleyan College.
