Artist Statement for David Khalil

|
STATEMENT
David Khalil takes the time and effort to create significant aesthetic finished mosaic products. He experiments with colors, shades, shapes and cuts of each fragment to create radiant textures. David finds that the meticulous task of placing each tile piece-by-piece and fragment-by-fragment can be challenging at times. Yet, creating mosaics allows him to embrace a sense of freedom that would be impossible to express with words. He adapts modern technology and old traditions in the mosaic industry. His inspiration comes from the natural beauty of the world and its inhabitants, culture, and religion. He sees all around us a splendor of artistic magnificence, and finds satisfaction in the sense of durability in his work considering his mosaics will outlast our lifestyles, traditions, culture, and religions.
