Artist Statement:
Above all, I think that an artist's work, which is in visual media, must speak for itself, and therefore that an artist's statement is at best an irrelevant fashion, albeit often required. My statement is this: I am a self-taught painter native to Montana and closely tied with a passionate sense of place to my home. I attempt to portray and interpret it with strong use of color in realistic, impressionistic and sometimes abstracted images. I paint almost exclusively in oils and en plein air. Most of my paintings are done in areas of historical interest, many in places visited by Lewis & Clark. My home is in the Blackfoot Valley, yes, where a river runs through it.
