Artist Statement:
Statement on Art
My painting is all about two
things as one ...music &art
together.In my book you can't
have one without the other;
Its kind of like wine &
cheese, bread & butter, well
you get the idea. I'm doing
something that I've always
wanted to do and when you do
something that you really want
to do, it usually works out
better.
I thought about subject matter
quite a bit and concluded
...what could be more
inspiring than the music that
we've listened to and most of
our lives, American music,
more familiarly put, jazz &
blues. I've seen quite a few
images of familiar music art,
with the same image of a great
performer, or classic
instrument in the same pose
perhaps painted or drawn , but
never-less nothing you or I
haven't seen a few times.
Since I've seen my share of
live music , I try to convey
that feeling of being in a
venue listening to a live
performer, remembering shows
(the note that you didn't
think they could hit, or that
old guitar in it's stand
before the show..and you
ponder...if I could have heard
...
