Artist Statement for Naomee Guest

It can often be difficult to explain something visual in words….
I’m curious about everything…..My art is a journey…. I go out to explore, I see, I get inspired, I expose my feelings….
Pleasures of paint came early to me...Classes and the first few years were of exploration; then came originality and self expression...I realized a painting could stop the sun from setting...
My vocabulary of grid based paintings is much more than a device... They are of form and color…The finished never resembles the original… I love a playful approach and will try alternative techniques exhausting use of color and pattern… Having worked with grids and their lines for some time now, I try to remain true to their constraints...except for the times when they decide to break out to the point of abstraction....
