Artist Statement:
Drawing on experiences from my life and travels in Africa, Asia, Europe and New Zealand, my work has developed a global symbolism using archetypal geometric elements and abstracting them to a minimalist point or "Bindu".
The use of the ‘Bindu’ or point is the first step in bringing to the field of vision the abstract, the formless.
The bindu is the point of origin, the first and basic primary symbol of consciousness and source of all symbolism representing unity as a condensed form of energy.
It is the seed form of all forms and symbolizes supreme consciousness serving as a link or uniting force. It is the first and basic primary symbol of consciousness from which emanates the circle representing cyclic force, and the three modes of time - past, present and future.
In my paintings, nuances of movement create an enigmatic surface tension of moire patterns, which resonate, describing through physical means the realisation of enlightenment and human consciousness.
At once halo, eclipse, celestial being and sun – the circle form offers a promise of perfection and eternity - a beginning without end.
