Welcome to Candice Morris's Portfolio.
From the beginning of time mankind has used images to communicate. Art is a universal language and one of the few things that ties us together as a race. Pictures can communicate when language holds us back. We can interpret pictures painted thousands of years ago and related to what they are trying telling us. I find this extremely captivating and use it as focus in everything I create.
I begin a painting by picking a pallet. Color selection is relative to my emotions at the time I begin. It is also extremely important because it can establish the mood for the entire painting. I believe that color and form have the power to drive our emotions and even our lives. My paintings are created to establish a relationship with the viewer. I know a painting is finished, when it can tell a different story to everyone who views it.
I find inspiration in history, nature, and places that exist only within my imagination. Beautiful places that pull us back to center. In my latest work I am using two central themes; mythology, and the North American southwest. I love the elements of form and relationships that I can capture ... |
