Artist Statement for Sue Halstenberg

|
My newest paintings are a product of my journey into deeper self-discovery. I start by energetically connecting with something that I'm naturally deeply attracted to: a symbol, a statue, or a myth that I can be inspired by. After that, I let go and allow the creative force to flow through me. It's like time stands still. Often I don’t even feel like I’ve done the painting, it’s like it painted itself!
Recently, Dr. Doreen Virtue asked me to paint five original pieces for her "Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards" which are distributed worldwide by Hay House Publishing. Doreen also used two of my angel paintings as cards in her "Connecting with Your Angels Kit". It's been a wonderful collaboration and I'm currently working on some new projects for her.
I'm most excited about my new art studio in the mountains overlooking the beautiful Ojai Valley in California. My studio retreat at Harmony Springs Ojai has some of the best hiking trails and meditation areas with natural streams and waterfalls.
