The Liberator
"The Liberator lives in a land where logic does not drive one mad."
The Liberator: new collaborative work by Naomi White & Agata Oleksiak inspired by the paintings of Rene Magritte.
For Immediate Release:
In the Liberator, photographic portraits, videos, and installations inspired by the subversive, absurdist paintings of Rene Magritte investigate the paradoxical notion that physical limitations can create a sense of emotional freedom. Artists Naomi White and Agata Olek Oleksiak and manipulate motifs of bondage and liberty while obscuring gender and nationality to release the subject from the burden of identity.
White's photographs are currently showing in the exhibition Portraiture Now at GE World Headquarters in Fairfield, Connecticut. Her video series Daily Practice also screened at the Pioneer Theatre as part of the Eye Am film series.
