Reviews for Ora Abrahami:

Review of "My Country, My Homeland, My Rishon", 2002 exhibition in Bet Kaner, Rishon LeZion, Israel

"Ora Abrahami's paintings can be read like a story relating the history of a young country - beginning with a rural landscape, and then evolving into a culture with its own essence and symbols. Her works give the viewer a sense of pristine "togetherness", a message of sincere optimism and zest for life, bringing light to his eyes and a smile to his lips. Just as one can easily recognize an outsider in our midst, so can Ora's paintings be identified as part of the local scene. Color is the dominant element in Ora's paintings, composed of multiple rows of images, through which she realtes her many stories, without any need for punctuation marks or pauses.Alongside these workks are a group of "portraits" - fragmented suggestions of facial features in which each viewer can discover his own school day comrades. But this exhibit portrays not only the past but also the present and perhaps the future as well. Photographs serve as documentation for a fertile plot of land whose fields and orchards have yielded crops over the past decades. And now this land is about to be devoured by progress - bringing highways, train tracks, and houses. Before this happens one last photograph is snapped from the air capturing the scene for the personal and collective memory. And so past, present and future are intertwined in this exhibition and find expression in the artist's own personal and unique language."
