Artist Statement for Jude Lobe

|
Art speaks volumes without uttering a word. Perhaps this is what drives me to paint. I work as a graphic designer and visual artist. I paint because I love the process of creating, allowing the voice within me to emerge through spontaneous expression. It’s like consciously dreaming, letting thoughts come and go and grow while time stands still. My visual art works vary in medium and style, but remain predominately impressionistic. In my paintings I try to let go of my consciousness and let the energy about me lead me. I attempt to return to the free spirit of the 5 year old that took brush in hand and got lost in the moment and freely stroked the canvas expressing all the joy, or anger or whatever emotion ruled the day. A respect for the natural environment has been a continuous thread throught out my life. My plein air landscape paintings are a way of preserving the endangerd landscape. Although my passion for the environment is basic to my being, I explore other interests, mediums and techniques to challenge myself.
