Artist Statement:
Jaime Villa was born in Baņos, Ecuador in the Province of Tungurahua. He has long been a part of the fine art community in Ecuador and is very well known both inside and outside the the art world in his native country. His distinctive style and flare has marked his works from the beginning. He continues to actively paint in his studio and is regularly involved in important exhibitions throughout the country.
Since 1960 Jaime Villa has been participating in many excibitions both national and international, like the Salon de Octubre and the first Bienal of independence for Latinamerica in 1972. He has made many individual excibitions in Quito and Guayaquil - Ecuador and has also had excibitions in Los Angeles, USA - Lima, Peru - Mexico City, Mexico.
Currently he is a Professor of Artistic Drawing and Design in the University Laica Vicente Rocafuerte de Guayaquil, Ecuador. These are but a few of the many exhibitions he has participated in in the past decades. He has also been recently invited to participate in an exhibition in Soho, New York in the spring of 2006.
