Artist Statement:
After forty-three years of
painting, the newer images
have come into being because
they represent recurring
elements with patterns,
process and visual provocation
in art.
The pattern aspect results
from years of making field
paintings by layering colors
in a very slow and controlled
manner.
Although that process has been
satisfying, I have felt a need
to bring other contemporary
issues to the canvas.
Therefore, since 2006 people
have become the provocative
element in my works. These
paintings of cultural
mannerisms including gestures,
poses and consumes, become
metaphors of ourselves
reflecting us back to
ourselves....
