Artist Statement for Peter Bonk
|
|
|
The work of Pete Bonk evokes ones curiosity with whimsy and the sublime. The work is poetry in painting, full of metaphor. The subjects are very much about life and living.
Professionally, Bonk has been a full time artist since 1999 when he sold his last high tech business. In recent years he has synthesized archetypal elements into paintings which utilize traditional painting techniques to represent contemporary life with a complex and beautiful sense of color.
Pete holds a BA degree in Fine Art and has won numerous Best of Show awards. His work is hanging in Private and Public collections throughout the country.
“As a painter I try to express ideas and emotions that are difficult to express with language. After all painting is a language in itself.
My paintings are realistic and I often use examples of life in a archetypical manner adding a touch of whimsy to my paintings.”
The artist is a member of the Professional Visual Artist Association (PAVA), the Art League of Manatee County, and Artist’s Unlimited. Having shown at numerous shows and exhibitions and won creative awards including “Best of Show” at the July 2004 FANR show and “First Place and purchase selection” at the December 2004 Cypress Cove “Body of Art” show.
