Artist Statement for Vera Richarda

My fascination with the arts, and especially the art of bronze sculptures, is rooted deep in my soul.

Where art lovers worldwide appreciate individual artists styles, I always searched for a little more in sculptures. Finding emotions, facial expressions and the innermost feelings of the model the artist portrayed, is certainly my true passion.

In my line of bronze sculptures based on ancient history, Greek mythology and recent United States history, I am trying to revive the life, passion, love and demeanor in faces of wellknown characters. Feelings of love, hate, success, bravery and pride come to life in the faces of the individuals I portray.

In the case of George Washington, I wanted to show what the first U.S. President was all about; his strength, wisdom, superiority, leadership, but also his sense of humor. Showing all of these attributes in one facial expression was a challenge in itself, but when you look at him closely and examine his face, you will discover them all.

Obsession with faces and their bronze expressionism desribes my work to the point.

Inspiration and fascination of sculptures created by such marvelous artists as Rodin, give me strength for my own work.
