Artist Statement:
Perrier Crystal Gallery features Kim Perrier a Canadian, Australian sculptor working with Cast Lead Crystal Glass to create contemporary glass sculpture. Perrier's online glass art sculpture, incorporates cast glass, wildlife sculpture, limited edition crystal paperweights and one-off crystal sculptures. The crystal work utilising the Patte du Verre process, hand carved and polished glass and sandblasting techniques to create the Glass Sculptures.
Pate De Verre is an ancient method of casting art glass and object’ de arte predominantly used during the Art Nouveau Period. Furthering techniques in a contemporary manner developed by Rene Lalique, Daum, Emile Galle and Art Nouveau art glass sculpture artists. Perrier's contemporary approach to sculptural art glass takes this medium to the next level.
Realism within an Art Form is a celebration of the wonders within our physical world or the magic and mystery of our metaphysical selves. A challenge for me is merging elements of Realism and Organic Abstract forms together in such a manner that may allow each creation to take on a life of its own. This may be considered "fantastique" as it fits well within the genre.
