Artist Statement:
February 2007
As I was drafting this artist
statement, I began thinking
about why I make my art. I
believe that it is because
every time I draw or paint, or
even think about art, it takes
me back to my childhood. I
remember the first time I made
a drawing. How I felt a
tremendous sense of joy and
wonderment. I thought that I
had created magic. Call it an
instant endorphin hit, or
whatever you want, but I have
felt that magic, each and
every time since.
My formative years were spent
studying animals and nature.
In particular I loved birds,
dogs and horses and drew them
at every opportunity. The
library was a great resource
for me and I read all the art
books voraciously. I was
intrigued to discover how the
masters created their art, so
I would set myself a challenge
to copy them.
My parents disapproved of my
drawing activity, but I never
allowed that to deter me. When
they were in dreamland, I
would quietly wake up at 2am
in the morning and happily
draw all night. Consequently,
this did not help my grades,
but my drawing skills
blossomed.

For the past three years Peter
has been working full time in
Local and National Radio in
Australia and has not had time
to be involved in an
exhibition schedule. Currently
the only place where Peter's
work can be view and purchased
