Artist Statement:
Peter Jean Caley
Biography of an Artist
Peter Jean Caley, a
professional artist since
1988, has evolved a very
unique
technique and his work is
entirely freehand. He enjoys
the challenge of
large-scale works and has a
style which could be described
as inspirational
realism. Over many years the
representation of wildlife and
portraits has
provided the vision for Peter
to perfect his delicate use of
colour and
brush technique. Peter sells
most of his works from his
studio and also
accepts commissions.
Since returning to New Zealand
in 1998 he was sponsored to
paint for a New
Zealand native and cultural
exhibition, which was held in
Rotorua. Peter has
featured in many newspaper
articles, television
programmes, and radio
appearances during his career,
including his public
television stand on
nudity in art on channel 9 in
Australia in 1994.
Training: West Australian Art
School 1974/5..School of
Portraiture, Lee
West, Auckland N.Z. 1984/5 ..
and has participated in many
workshops with
various artists and schools,
including Clifton Pugh.
