Artist Statement:
Creating images of objects as they appear in nature is an instinct that lies deep in the human psyche. But it is the artist who overcomes the imperfections and transience of nature, and delivers a 'golden' world as compared to nature's 'brazen'. The artist in his works , thus expresses a reality that is closer to truth than , perhaps , the real world. It is in this sense that , in his Poetics, Aristotle states that art (or in his words , poetry) is more philosophical than history , as the latter depicts events and objects as they are, whereas the former, as they ought to be.To me , what is more important than all this is the sheer pleasure of being able to create forms and images that depict a special feeling, a thought , a mood, or simply a flight of fancy. I paint because I love to . My favourite medium is watercolours , but I also use crayons for my creations ; and occasionally a combination of the two....
